**Y Marshals Final Trailer & First Look: Casey Dutton’s Next Chapter Begins with Loss and Legacy**
The final trailer for *Y Marshals* has dropped, and it feels less like a typical teaser and more like a eulogy—a somber goodbye that sets the tone for the first true sequel in the Yellowstone universe.
The opening moments hint at a major loss, a debt being paid, and a choice that could redefine the entire saga. As the dust settles from Yellowstone’s dramatic finale, fans are left asking: Who’s being buried, what’s the cost, and why does this new chapter begin with heartbreak?

Since Yellowstone ended, speculation about the Dutton family’s future has been rampant. While many fans adore Casey Dutton, few expected him to lead the next chapter. Yet here we are, with an official release date and fresh details about Casey’s new journey in *Y Marshals*.
This series picks up with Casey leaving ranch life behind and stepping into a role that blends all facets of his character—a cowboy, a Navy SEAL, and a fiercely protective father. Now, he’s joining an elite US Marshals unit, tasked with bringing “range justice” to Montana while grappling with family, duty, and the psychological toll of being a single father.
Luke Grimes, who plays Casey, was as surprised as anyone when approached about the spin-off. He admitted, “Well, he’s happy. We’re just going to watch him be happy. That’s not very cool.”

But Grimes quickly realized the new story was compelling and offered something fresh, not just a rehash of Casey’s old traumas. “The idea grabbed me right away,” he said, suggesting that *Y Marshals* will explore new territory for Casey and the Yellowstone universe.
The teasers so far reveal Casey struggling to outrun his past. “I’m just grappling with some skeletons I’d like to keep in my closet,” he confides in one clip—reminding viewers that Casey’s demons are never small. Another teaser shows him seeking a new beginning, still wearing his wedding ring, and raising questions about Monica’s fate.
Kelsey Asbille, who played Monica, hasn’t been confirmed for the spin-off, leaving fans wondering where she fits in Casey’s new life. Monica’s absence feels deliberate, especially since Yellowstone ended with Casey giving the ranch back to Thomas Rainwater and the Broken Rock Reservation—Monica’s people—tying their family together.

Gil Birmingham returns as Thomas Rainwater, and Mo Brings Plenty is back as Mo, ensuring Casey’s connection to Broken Rock remains central. Their presence opens up rich political, cultural, and emotional storylines, and promises viewers more of the iconic Yellowstone landscapes.
Casey’s world is expanding with new faces: Ariel Kebbel as Belle, Ash Santos as Andrea, and Tatanka Means as Miles—all fellow marshals. This dynamic shifts Casey from the family chaos of the Duttons to a team where he’s the newcomer.
Logan Marshall-Green joins as Pete Calvin, an old military friend, and Brett Cullen recurs as Harry Gford, head of the US Marshals in Montana.
Behind the scenes, Taylor Sheridan remains involved, but Spencer Hudnut (of *Seal Team* fame) is the new showrunner, bringing a fresh perspective and a military edge. The first episode, written by Hudnut and directed by Greg Yaitanes, promises a familiar feel but pushes Casey into new territory.
*Y Marshals* premieres March 1, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. on CBS. With Casey Dutton at the helm, a new team, and lingering questions about family and legacy, this sequel promises to honor Yellowstone’s roots while forging its own path.
