She unlocked my door.

The rain soaked through my clothes within seconds. I could barely keep my balance, but I managed to call Michael, my former driver—the man Adrien had dismissed months earlier for “cutting household costs.”
Michael had quietly stayed nearby after my hospital discharge because something about my son’s arrangements had worried him.
He found me and brought me home.
