**Landman Season 2 Episode 2 Trailer: Explosive Family Drama, Power Plays, and Sam Elliott’s Arrival**
Landman Season 2 returns with an explosive premiere, and the trailer for Episode 2 promises even more drama, tension, and shifting alliances.
The show wastes no time, diving right back into the chaos surrounding Tommy Norris, who finds himself battered by both corporate storms and family drama. The arrival of Sam Elliott as Tommy’s father, TL, adds a new layer of complexity and emotional weight, setting up a season where pride and legacy collide in unpredictable ways.

The season opens with Tommy already sounding worn out before dawn, delivering a classic Billy Bob Thornton monologue about breakfast, cereal companies, and his own cranky honesty. He’s off cigarettes, coffee isn’t enough, and he’s resigned to the idea that he’ll probably start drinking again despite his promises.
The loss of Monty Miller at the end of last season thrust Tommy into the role of president at MTEX Oil, a position he never truly wanted. Monty’s widow, Cammy, now owns the company outright, and together they must calm anxious business partners after Monty’s death.
Cammy steps into the spotlight, transforming from last season’s quiet presence into a commanding force. Her bathroom scene—an homage to her iconic role in The Substance—precedes a bold speech in front of skeptical oilmen.

“The only difference between me and Monty is, I’m meaner,” she declares. “Test me and you’ll find out how much. Enjoy your lunch. I paid for it with your money.” Cammy’s assertiveness sets the tone for the season, but her increasing authority soon clashes with Tommy’s leadership. Episode 2 promises friction between the two, as Cammy starts making decisions that challenge Tommy’s control over MTEX.
Meanwhile, Tommy’s home life is no less chaotic. His son Cooper returns after last season’s cartel drama, determined to become a landman and prove himself.
Against all odds, Cooper strikes oil on his own land, calculating that his find could earn the family $10 million a year. While Cooper is finally poised to change the family’s fortunes, his girlfriend Ariana is overwhelmed. She’s constantly at the drilling site with her baby, and rumors swirl that she’s pregnant again. Ariana’s trauma and skepticism about Cooper’s dangerous new lifestyle set up a major clash with Tommy in the coming episodes.

Tommy’s daughter, Aninsley, also gets her moment in the spotlight, though not in the way fans hoped. Her college admissions interview at Texas Christian University exposes her sheltered upbringing and lack of awareness, but her father’s money secures her spot nonetheless.
Taylor Sheridan’s writing seems to poke fun at social class differences, but sometimes goes too far, leaving viewers divided about Aninsley’s character.
The family gathers for a lavish dinner to celebrate Aninsley’s acceptance, which quickly devolves into chaos after Tommy makes a sexist joke about Angela’s hormones. Plates fly, tempers flare, and the argument turns into foreplay—until Tommy’s phone rings with devastating news: his mother, Dorothy, has died.
This loss introduces TL, Tommy’s father, played by Sam Elliott. TL is stubborn and poetic, refusing to leave his spot outside the assisted living home until sunset.
His grief is palpable, and his arrival at Tommy’s home will have major consequences. Tommy needs his father’s expertise to navigate his new corporate role, and TL may be the key to controlling Cammy.
With explosive family drama, shifting power dynamics, and the arrival of Sam Elliott, Landman Season 2 is shaping up to be must-watch television. For more updates, analysis, and weekly breakdowns, stay tuned and follow along.
